New Covenant Ministries & Fellowship

Meet Your Hostess

Rev. Gladys Martinez-Weydert, Ph.D.

Greetings in the Name of the Lord!

My name is Gladys, and I am the founder of New Covenant Ministries & Fellowship, which was chartered in South Carolina in 2001, through
St. Luke's Evenagelical Christian Ministries in
Hephzibah, Georgia. I was ordained at St. Luke's in 2001, as well, and it was one of the proudest
days of my life. I also operate New Covenant Weddings, which is the marriage ministry and the "business end" of New Covenant, which keeps us
in hamburgers, praise the Lord.

I have been in lay ministry since my salvation in 1994, when I started working in children's ministry as well as teen counseling and crisis pregnancy center counseling,
post-abortion counseling, and abstinence counseling. In 1996, I became an Evangelism Explosion trainer. EE is a ministry in which lay people are trained
to go out and share the Gospel with other folks, and, in our case, with church visitors. It is an extraordinary multiplication-based ministry (you train two
people, and they train two people, and they train two people...)  created by the late Dr. D. James Kennedy (the guy who had the best smile in all the world) of
Coral Ridge Ministries.

Within two years of my salvation experience, after hearing Dr. R.C. Sproul teaching on the radio, I learned that he was pastoring a church in Sanford, Florida.
Sanford was quite a drive for me -- I was in Kissimmee at the time -- but it was worth the drive. I joined St. Andrew's Chapel, and remained a member there for
over 2 years, until it was no longer feasible for me to attend (I had 5 children living with me at the time!). It was one of the greatest learning experiences of my life, and I
am eternally grateful for the opportunity that I had to sit at the feet of the great man. I can honestly say that I gained what can only be called a seminary-level education
while I was there.

I graduated from Andersonville Baptist Seminary (now called Andersonville Theological Seminary) in Camilla, Georgia, in 1999, having majored in
Biblical Studies. The same year, I also completed the Sarasota Academy of Christian Counseling's Creation Therapy program. The SACC is part of the
National Christian Counselors Association, and is, in fact, founded by the Arnos, who developed what was once called the "T.A.P." test (Temperament
Analysis Profile), but is now referred to as the Arno Profile System. It is this profile system in which I was trained, as well as their Creation Therapy model.

In 2000, I completed the Precept Ministries Leader's Bible Studies Leaders Training Program. Precept Ministries is Kay Arthur's ministry, and she is one of my
favorite teachers. I respect her as a woman and as a Christian, and I have a great admiration for her. She has an amazing testimony. I also have a great love for
the inductive study method, of which Mrs. Arthur is a proponent. As far as I am concerned, this is the best way to study Scripture, as it allows Scripture to speak

I have continued in my studies, and, in 2008, earned my Doctorate of Pastoral Psychology from the Trinity Institute of Christian Counseling, in Alabama.

Although my great love is teaching, I enjoy writing and have published some of my short stories. I've also created and published a number of websites, including
a website for beginning writers, in which I published their work. I still occasionally find my name in the credits of writer who were first published on my website,
and am very honored to see that.

Currently, I'm starting my counseling practice, and working to start a Bible study for young married couples. I believe it is important for recently married
couples to have a strong support system in the Lord. I teach when I have the opportunity, but am looking for a long-term core group of couples on which to focus.
Also, this internet ministry, the weddings and "young marrieds" are taking up most of the time I'm not with my enormous family!

I'm the mother of 3 beautiful adult children, Celia, Lindsay, and Adam, who are my pride and joy, and I have three gorgeous granddaughters: Hailey, Nikki, and Alyssa.
I'm also the proud mommy of a Schnauzer of indeterminate age (Dixie).
